Behind The Moment

On Friday, February 11th, 2022 at 2:50 pm, we were in the pickup line to pick up our oldest from school when I got an email from Advanced Bionics! They wanted to invite me and a special someone to be part of a video project/campaign. My mouth dropped and I turned to Heather and said, “Is this real? Am I reading this right?”

Sure enough, it was real and I knew the sender from previous blog projects I did for Advanced Bionics. By the time we picked up the boys, I already responded with an excited “Yes"!!” The next few months consisted of zoom meetings to plan and to meet more of the team working on the project. I often had to pinch myself as I always dreamed of being able to work with the company that made it possible for me to hear each and every day. The individuals that we got to work with were simply amazing and a dream come true.

In May 2022, Heather and I flew out to San Fransisco. This was our first 2 nights away from home and the kids. We were set to film on the Wednesday afternoon which allowed us to rest up after a long flight the day before and not feel rushed. Naturally we slept in and took lots of naps which was heavenly for us parents of young kids. The kids were having a blast and being spoiled by my parents. :)

The moment we stepped into the studio and were greeted by the team members, I had to constantly pinch myself. However, I LOVED the studio as it reminded me of the many hours I spent in the photo studios in St. Louis for furniture shoots pre-covid. Heather got pampered in the with the hair and makeup artist, while I was getting instructions from the wardrobe designer and director. We were definitely not in St. Louis. Once the sound guy came in and got our microphones all set up, we walked to the stage where we were given simple instructions on what they wanted us to do.

I walked to the chair where I listened to Heather’s recording for the first time. It was emotional and then we got to sit on the couch together and answer questions the director had for us. The whole team made it feel so comfortable and natural. At the end, one of the Advance Bionics team members came up and gave us both the biggest hugs. At that moment, I was so grateful for Advanced Bionics and The Moments they were capturing and taking interest in how it has changed my life.

The Moment campaign is so much more than a video series. It is showing how all walks of life connect and share life’s important moments. There were many other videos that I either related to or was reminded of moments in my life. What a neat experience it has been and I got to share it with Heather.
